Revlon Midnight Sparkle

Hey there!

I can't believe it's almost Christmas! I haven't even done a single Christmas mani yet. Hopefully I have time to do one with all the Christmas wrapping and shopping I still need to do.

Anyways, I have Revlon Midnight Sparkle to share with everyone.  Midnight Sparkle is from Revlon's holiday collection Just Add Sparkle. It has a blackened navy blue base with silver hex and micro glitter.

I used two coats in my pictures, but it is definitely opaque enough for just one coat. I kinda regret adding that second coat since the base seemed to drown out the glitter. I wasn't too impressed with this polish, I wish the glitter would've showed up better in the base. I heard this was a dupe for Deborah Lippmann Lady Sings The Blues, but I wouldn't know since I don't have that polish to compare with.

If I don't post again before or on Christmas, I hope everyone has a merry Christmas! Unfortunately I will be working on Christmas. :(

Sephora X - Hypochondriac

I have another polish from the Sephora X The Pearlescents collection, Hypochondriac. It's described as a pearlescent brown copper sateen.

I used two coats, and the formula was great. I am very impressed with the Sephora X polishes so far. I'll definitely need to pick up some other colors soon.

Well, thanks for reading!

Today is going to be a lazy post. I have a couple pictures of some snowflake stamped nails I did yesterday. If you'd like to know which polishes or stamping plate I used, just leave me a comment.

Sephora X - Hormonal

Wow, its been a while since I've posted. I was really busy with school the past few weeks. This semester really kicked my butt, so I had to concentrate more of my time towards studying. But the semester is finally over, and I'll have more time to blog and sleep.

Today, I have one of the new Sephora X polishes, Hormonal, to share with you. I saw these polishes on Sephora not too long ago and bought two from the Sephora X The Pearlescents collection.

Hormonal is described on the website as a "pearlescent royal blue sateen." It is a royal blue with purple shimmer running through it. In some lights, it looked more purple than blue.

I used two coats in my pictures.  The formula gave me no problems, but was a little bit on the watery side. So far, I'm pretty impressed with the new Sephora X line of polishes. I have one more to Sephora X polish to swatch, but hopefully there will be more to come.

Thanks for reading!

Gradient Tutorial

Hello everyone!

I have a quick gradient tutorial I would like to share with you today. I posted pictures of my nail on Instagram and one of my friends wanted to know how I did them. I created a short tutorial that I posted on Instagram and thought I'd share here also.

Materials:
Two or more polishes (I used two, but you can use as many colors as you'd like)
Piece of a make up sponge (I used about 1/4 of the sponge since you don't need much.)
Glitter Polish (optional)
Base&Top Coat

Step 1. Paint nail with base coat and the polish color you'd like at the base of the nail & let dry for a few mins. It doesn't need to be completely dry.
Step 2. Paint the polish you'd like for your gradient onto makeup sponge. I used two colors for my gradient, but you can use as many as you'd like.
Step 3. Dab the sponge up the nail (towards cuticles.) You may need to repeat step 2&3 until you get your desired effect.
Step 4. Top off with glitter, or just top coat to smooth out nail.

I hope the tutorial was pretty easy to follow. This was my first time creating a tutorial. It's a lot harder to explain then I thought it'd be.

By the way, I used Barielle Do Unto Others, Icing Chartruesly Yours, and Nails Inc Electric Lane (holographic topcoat).

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine - Lava

I just spotted the Sally Hansen Lustre Shine polishes at CVS the other day, finally. Lava was the only color I found unique enough to pick up though. It is a orange multi-chrome with flashes of gold and pink. I'm glad I got this color because I love the color shift and don't have anything like this in my stash.

The polish is pretty sheer, so I had to use three coats. I think this polish would look amazing over black though and I'll probably layer it next time. I'm also debating if I should pick up the other polishes from this collection, I was pretty impressed with this color. Plus, I don't have enough duochrome/multi-chrome polishes in my life.

Color Club - Halo-Graphic

Hi there!

I have another polish from the Color Club Halo Hues collection to share with you today. I have swatches of Color Club Halo-Graphic, an amazing pink holo. This polish has a pretty strong linear holo effect and its absolutely stunning. Take a look.

I used two coats but it was fairly opaque after one. The formula was great and gave me no issues at all. I don't think I used base coat or top coat, but I can't exactly remember. Halo-Graphic is probably my favorite holo polish, at least for now.

What's your favorite holo polish?

Revlon Rain Forest + Gold Glitter

Hello!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I know I did. It was nice to spend some time with the family and not have to worry about school or work.

I wanted to share a swatch of Revlon Rain Forest with you today. Rain Forest is dark green jelly with green glass-flecks. For fun, I added a coat of an unnamed gold glitter polish that I got as a free gift from Wet Seal over the weekend.

I used two coats of Rain Forest and had no problems with application. I do have a bald spot on my middle finger in the pictures, but I think that was on me since I was painting my nails in the dark. I used one thick coat of the gold glitter, which was extremely thick and goopy. I kinda regretted adding the gold glitter because it really covered up the gorgeous glass-flecks in Rain Forest, but I probably will change my nails today, so no biggie.

Half Moon Mani

Hi!

I wanted to take a quick moment out of my day to share with you a half moon mani I wore last week. I'm not even sure I'd call this a half moon mani since it looks more like a french tip, oh well.

I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White, and Revlon Top Speed Pink Lingerie, and a silver Kiss Nail Art striper polish. I also used those binder hole reinforcement stickers to tape off my nails.

Hope you liked them!

Color Club - Blue Heaven

Last month, I got four polishes from Color Club's Halo Hues collection. This collection is comprised of six linear holographic polishes. Today, I'm going to share with you, Blue Heaven.

Blue Heaven is a light blue holo. It has a very strong holo effect! The day that I painted my nails, I also got my Cheeky Summer Collection stamping plates and decided to test one out, so I also have a couple of pictures of that.

I used two coats of Blue Heaven over a base coat of Seche Clear. I didn't use any top coat because I didn't want to dull the holo. Blue Heaven gave me no application issues, it applied perfectly. All my pictures were taken in artificial light; I tried to take pictures in sunlight but it was rainy and gloomy that day.

Color Club - Berry And Bright

Hey there!

I have another polish from Color Club's Winter Affair collection, Berry And Bright. This polish has a very similar finish to the green polish from this collection, Ho-Ho-Holly.  Berry And Bright is an amazing red shimmer, I couldn't keep my eyes off my nails.

I used two coats of Berry And Bright. The formula was a little thicker than I would have liked but it wasn't a major issue.

Apparently this collection comes in a scented version. I smelled my nails, but there was no scent, so I must have the unscented version. I don't mind having the unscented version since I'm pretty sensitive to smells, but I'm curious what they smell like. Oh well.

I have one more polish from this collection to share with you. I also have some new holos to to swatch, so watch out for that soon.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Halloween

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to post really quick the Halloween themed nails that I wore this week. I also included my jack-o-lantern that I carved.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!

Color Club - Ho-Ho-Holly

Here is the second polish I own from the Color Club Winter/holiday 2012 collection Winter Affair, Ho-Ho-Holly. Ho-Ho-Holly is a golden green shimmer with flashes of turquoise.  This isn't your usual Christmas tree green. Look at how shimmery and glowy (is that even a word) this polish is!

Ho-Ho-Holly is pretty thin, and I needed three coats.  Luckily the formula didn't give me any problems and dried very quickly.

Its almost Halloween, and I've been rocking Christmas polishes. I need to do some Halloween nails before its too late! Maybe that's what my next post will be.

Hello!

So unfortunately I've gotten very behind in blogging. I just haven't had the time to blog with school and work. I did still find the time to post to Instagram though. Since I haven't blogged in a while, I wanted to share some of my Instagram pictures with you.

You can follow me on Instagram at helenk90.
